[Watch face][SDK2] Futura Weather

edited March 2014 in Pebble Watchapp Directory

Based on "WeatherWatch" by Katharine and "Roboto Weather" by Martin Rosinski.

Futura Weather SDK2

Features

  • Location-based weather information (updates every 15 minutes)
  • Phone disconnection alert
  • Stale weather information indicator
  • 12h/24h support

Help a student out

The weather requests made from the previous versions of this watchface were funded straight from my own pocket. The monthly bills from the service provider were great blows to my student budget, to say the least ($430 for July only).

If you are enjoying Futura Weather, please consider donating the amount of your choice to cover the expenses I've had in the past. If I, by any chance, will receive more than I have spent, I will remove the donation link below and donate the surplus to charity. Thank you!

Crashes my Pebble when on Android. Weather Watchface and Roboto Weather recently had a fix (I believe) so it would work on Android: http://forums.getpebble.com/discussion/comment/39763/#Comment_39763

Please look into it, because I like the look of this watchface.
... with the newest httpebble on the Playstore it`s work ....

I updated httpebble today (and I have the newest version). I just tried it, and Futura Weather crashes. The other 2 watchfaces work fine, it is just this one that causes it to crash.

I have just tried it again to be sure, and it definitely crashes the Pebble.
    same here

Hard to be sure without the source, but I can almost guarantee that in pbl_main .inbound is set to 256 instead of 124

It's possible that the 1.11.0 update fixed it, @idle0095 are you using the newest firmware (1.11.0)?

Just tried it and crashes for me on 1.11.0 as well. It is definitely an issue with the watch face and .inbound needs to be set to 124

One annoying thing is every 15min the connection drops and reconnect - with vibrating on my wrist...
not sure this is due to the fact that I'm running different version of httpebble?

Here's a version without the vibration alert:

The problem might be that the watchface alerts you not only when the connection to the phone is lost, but also when there are pending messages that need to be processed first before new ones can be received or sent (i.e. every 15 minutes when it requests updated weather information). So it might be caused by your version of httpebble, but I have no clue.

Might have a fix though. Try this if you still want the vibration alert, but only when the connection to the phone is actually lost:

    EDIT:
@dj898 any luck? I've seen that Android users are experiencing disconnection issues as well, but much more frequent (every ~2 minutes). Are you consistently experiencing this every 15 minutes?

    Version update 1.7

    - Initial 0 removed from day of month
    - Internet connection issues not considered as phone connection loss, i.e. no vibration alert (fix by Zone-MR)
    - Added a version without the vibration alert

@idle0095 How often does it disconnect on your Android version? dj898 is running this on iOS with a different version of httpebble and it seems to disconnect every 15 minutes. Haven't heard about any other iOS issues, just as long as the httpebble app is successfully installed.

I just updated to the new 1.7 version of this watch face and it has disconnected once so far.  Ill let you know in a few hours how much it does or doesn't.

Disconnect @ 9:09 while sitting next to phone.
    Reconnect @ 9:10.

    Disconnect @ 9:30
    Reconnect @ 9:30

    Disconnect @ 9:46
    Reconnect @ 9:48 forced.

Seems like ill be going back to Pebble Glance.  This is nuts how bad this is.

@idle0095 Thanks for the input. Really can't tell you what's causing this. A tentative theory would be that modified versions of httpebble are causing the connectivity issues. Maybe @lkorth can shed some light over this?

I strongly suspect that pinging the watch every minute does nothing good for the reliability of the connection, for one. It's certainly going to cause confusion when it coincides with weather checkes.

Other than that (if people are actually using the version that doesn't try doing that) I have no idea, though appmessages generally are not entirely reliable anyway.

I haven't been using any of the faces that notify for disconnects, but I'll give it a try and keep an eye on the debug. I should be able to tell you where the drop is happening. On a side note, the next version of httpebble for Android will include an in app window with debug messages.
