He's probably been testing the keyboard app for Pebble, and doesn't think it's yet up to the point where he could reliably make the posting directly from his watch. :-)
Ok so 13 presses of the bottom right button is z so i hope it does not include the word Zenzizenzizenzic or will not see it until the week after next... :-0
If Eric says there's not going to be a update tmrw, there's probably a reason. There's probably some news coming early next week that they want to include in the update so they're holding it off. Everything has a purpose and/or reason.
LG P500 (Android 2.3.3) - will be upgrading before the end of the year! • iPod Touch (4th Gen) • Kickstarter Edition Black Pebble • BestSkinsEver Screen Protector • @saeranm on Twitter
I'm just getting sick of these delays. I mean I understand that it's a new company and they did not expect what happened to happen, but still. It just seems like a lot delayed and doesn't seem to professional. I am still awaiting my pebble and I can't wait to have it, I mean I have my band and screen protector already, just no pebble.
I just wish we could have some consistency with something from these guys. Communication is great, but consistency and communication would be a hell of lot better.
i just feel jipped cuz i have emailed them twice with a simple question and just get emailed back a link to their popular questions page everytime. plus, its sucksw that i see people reviewing colored pebbles all over youtube and colored pebbles for sale on ebay...... where the heck is mine!? I want my white pebble already!
I would imagine that color shipping will start soon. In update 33 they said 25,000 were manufactured, and looking at http://www.ispebbleshipping.com/ they have now shipped about 25,000. At that point they were shifting production of one machine to color faces. I would expect those to be in the pipeline soon. Remember once they've made the color faces they have to be shipped to the factory in China from Taiwan.

I haven't seen one color watch on youtube yet, unless you count Black as a color. All of the ones on ebay are selling their not arrived yet pebble from what I've seen.
Production has went tits up and Eric chooses this moment to be silent. Speaks volumes !!
Eric, If no update then Why ? Give us a valid reason. The company has taken a step back since the last update and we as backers want to know why ??
From update 33:"We're 'shooting' (injecting) each color one at a time because each color of plastic requires a slightly different temperature, pressure and cycle time. Each individual color also needs to be approved through a process called First Article Inspection (FAI) during which all dimensions are double checked. We've found that the fit between the bottom housing and the lens can vary quite a lot depending on the injection parameters, so we're being very careful before approving the mass production parameters for each color."
Perhaps now that they've started color production (and they sure want to get this right) they are doing as they said and making sure the dimensions are double checked.
I'd rather have an update of substance, than some fluff pushed out because of a deadline.

No one has received a colored Pebble yet.
There are no colored Pebble's actually for sale on eBay, they are all "preorders."
No color Pebbles have been shipped out yet, there are only a few prototypes floating around. Almost all of the reviews (if not all) have been for black watches.
In terms of updates, originally the team said they would update every two or three weeks, not every other week. There might be a hundred reasons why they are holding back an update, such as they are waiting for the first batch of colored watches to ship out, or they are waiting for the next official firmware update, etc. They might not have any real news to share and are working toward a goal so that they DO have something worth sharing. I mean really, I would rather have Eric focus on getting the SDK done, or more watches shipped out than posting an update that said something useless like "nothing to report, more watches shipping soon!"

Totally understand your frustration Trenton. I just got my 4/17 backed Pebble and had a skin waiting for it as well. Looks like production is moving steady and shipping is catching up with production. They say colors will start soon. Hang in there. It's a good product for a young company. You'll be happy with it.

I wouldn't make the assumption that next week means "early" next week. It may mean next Friday,

@Caffeine Junkie - Can you then explain to me what all the rounds of pre-production were for then ? Should this not have already been addressed i.e The problems with colours. We are now 2 weeks further on and no improvement in output.I am annoyed at the fact that we were told that they had the potential to produce 15,000 a week, they are at best 50% of this. This effectively means I and everyone else further down the line will have to wait twice as long.
Also, is it too much to ask for an update with substance on the day that it was scheduled ? It should be no surprise to the Pebble team that Backers are expecting an update today or tomorrow. What is there that can't be said today that has to wait ??
I'm not saying we dont need to be told, just that there may be reasons.
I do have a Pebble yes, but am anxiously awaiting my next delivery, and as a color watch it will be some time. The Hacker backer watches are early versions. The lens glueing process had not been finalised and as such it isn't certified as waterproof, so I'm kind of treating it with kid gloves. I have a skin ready for my new watch, but am saving it for my final watch. I'm also waiting for one as a gift for my wife (who as a runner is looking forward to Runkeeper integration) so I'm as keen as anyone for the full functionality to be released.
EDIT:
I'm also not saying (and never have said) that people don't have a right to be aggreived. I'm just attempting some balance.
They might not have any real news to share and are working toward a goal so that they DO have something worth sharing. I mean really, I would rather have Eric focus on getting the SDK done, or more watches shipped out than posting an update that said something useless like "nothing to report, more watches shipping soon!"
Thats more to the point. They don't have anyhting positive to say for now, but hey next week can only be better ! It wouldn't be like them to put a spin on anything. "Oh production is at 50% capacity after roughly 8 weeks but hey why be concerned about this we have just shipped 1000 red units". Woopy do. !!!!
Eric, also said himself that as the project got closer to the end he wanted to increase the frequency of the updates ? I take that's another broken commitment that will disapear unoticed.
Should this not have already been addressed i.e The problems with colours. We are now 2 weeks further on and no improvement in output.
I feel your pain. Yet the manufacturing output is something Pebble can do nothing about. They produced their part of the deal.
Although I agree that the update this week will be sorely missed I'm very sure there is a good reason for it. I like to think they deserve our trust now Pebble is out in the wild.
Are you implying Pebble has completed their part of the deal? What part of "the deal" would that be exactly? Explain what you mean by this.
Rebus, my guess is all the testing was done in black and when they got to colors they were caught by surprise at the changes necessary.

Nonsense, There are things Pebble can do to change the manufacturing: They can employee more people. Find a different manufacturer, kick someones ass, set up a second line. So your statement is not entirly true.
If you were running Pebble and the nice man from the factory in China told you " Mr Pebble I think we should be the ones to make you Pebble because we will be able to make 15,000 a week only to turn round 8 weeks later and say mmmmm, maybe the 15,000 was a little high I'm afraid we can only do 7,500. Would you not be doing something about that ? and then let your customers know that there my or may not be a revised schedule for receiving there products, Especially if most of them have been patiently waiting for close to a year.
Are we expected to be patient forever. I mean when does the time come when people have the right to get royally pissed off ?
@Geckotek they delivered the designs and firmware. Unfortunately for Pebble they are dependent on others to really put them together and ship them to their customers. That's all I meant.
Yes, but they are still directly involved in the production process. As we've seen in videos from them, they have travelled to China to work with the production team. I consider that production to be an extension of this project, not just a hand-off. Pebble is directly responsible for it as this is the team they hired, trained, and worked with to develop the production line and processes. I'm not willing to allow the production team to be a scapegoat for Pebble. That being said, I have my watch now and I'm very happy. I just know how the others feel and I empathize with them. Another delayed update, for any reason, feels like another broken promise. Everyone would be much happier to hear from Eric more often...even if the updates had little to offer. Silence is worse than "Hey guys, we're delaying the SDK until we finish polishing the APIs."
@ Robert Maijer: See Geckoteks posting about. I am in agreement with this statement 100%. The factory is not a Sub contractor and I dont see what Pebbles success has to do with this either. If anything what you are saying is that Pebble probably had to pay out more money for production than they would have liked, to their "Sub contractor". If thats the case then isn't that all the more reason why someone at Pebble should be addressing this.
Robert I am and have always been a supporter of the Pebble and will continue to be so.
However, this has been a very long journey. When production started in Jan. I expected ( and i'm sure Pebble did too) that ramp up would take a few weeks and there would be a steady efficiency increase in output. Finally reaching close to the 2,500 ppd figure .This has yet to happen and we are 8 weeks in. No explanation/ announcement , No revised capacity figures, No plan.......Nothing !!!
That is whats frustrating, Oh and all the flowery shit over on Twitter, that just rubs salt in the wounds !!!
We can all speculate on why they aren't meeting their numbers. We can all speculate on why we don't have an SDK yet. We can all speculate why colors haven't shipped.
The problem is, we're left to speculate. In this situation, Pebble can't over-communicate. Yes, they are technically not obligated to tell us anything, but I think what's happened is they say they're going to do something, and they don't. Now some people you'll never make happy, but I'm sure a portion of the unhappy people right now would be at least a little more subdued with a little insight to what's going on.
Are there manufacturing and quality problems? Are there SDK and firmware problems? Is there an acquisition in the works? While I'm sure Pebble doesn't want to or can't comment on some of these items (either legally can't or as a company doesn't want to imply there are issues that would give competitors an advantage), they need to say something. Silence only leaves angry people and rumors, which will get uglier and uglier the less you say and more you delay.
Is it just me, or do the updates lately seem to: 1) not address the issues people actually want to hear about; and/or 2) mainly contain bad news (not always clearly stated, but collectively creating a worrying picture) - like the list of issues at the end of both updates 32 and 33.
E.g. In writing Update 33, Eric must have been aware that people want to know when the SDK (or at least when apps for the phone, which is what really matters to non-programmers) is gonna be available. The update says: nothing about it. @pebble has confirmed on Twitter that the RunKeeper app is going to be available later than the "beginning of March" estimate that was given at CES. Again, Eric must have known this at the time, but there was no update provided.
Looking at www.ispebbleshipping.com, they produced <5,000 watches between 1 March and 6 March. At this rate, they're struggling to meet even half of the hoped for 15,000 watches per week. Now, this may have co-incided with them switching out one of the moulds to colored Pebbles, but it's looking to me increasingly likely that they're not going to have made (let alone delivered to backers) all 85,000 watches by the end of March. Once again, we've heard nothing about it.
I know they're a small company and that the insights into the manufacturing process in their updates have been interesting. But waiting for this is really starting to drag - particularly as we still don't really have certainty on when we're going to receive these watches and I have growing concerns that they'll never perform as was promised (the concern is the software and the ability to "work perfectly with your smartphone", not the hardware).
Now you mention it, I never thought about it that way. What makes you think this and do you have anything to back up your assumptions ? or is it just a gut feeling? Hopefully there are potential resolutions to the production woes.
Hope you backed black !! If I was on a black and as close as you then I think my patience may have stretched that far !!
i just feel jipped cuz i have emailed them twice with a simple question and just get emailed back a link to their popular questions page everytime. plus, its sucksw that i see people reviewing colored pebbles all over youtube and colored pebbles for sale on ebay...... where the heck is mine!? That threw me for a second, a Windows Phone video. They did have various color examples working at CES. This may have been one of those. I know backers are going to think "I havent got my watch yet and they're giving them to the press?" but we're probably talking about a handful, and it's the nature of the beast.
@ Robert - I think you maybe reading into that a bit much. The gesture by the chap at the factory was harmless, IMO is was not done to cause offence, the guy was mearly saying hello to the camera. I agree Eric is a bit more somber in the 2nd clip but its a more serious article.
Without doubt he is under pressure, but are we all not ? and I know I have to answer to the guy who pays me to do a job !
So why nothing official from Pebble. I'll tell you my theory. As soon as they announce a delay, back orders will be cancelled, but thats inevitable. They need to come clean and tell us the hard truth.
I'm tired of not knowing when I will recieve the reward for my $565 backing.

That may be one of the prototypes. Several prototypes of each color were made before actual manufacture began in order to test the process. However the prototypes didn't have to be perfect because they were not being sent to backers.
Or.
It could be a standard black Pebble with a red skin on it. Skins are shiny just like the plastic face of the Pebble, cover the entire face and that video doesn't show the watch close enough to see any real detail.

Update #32 states that a single Pebble takes about 2 weeks to be made and shipped to distribution center plus color Pebble requires FAI process, I don't think any exciting news could be announced this week unless SDK is ready.
No communication is bad but useless update could be even worse. I guess that's why Eric choose to not have update this weekend.
I hope we can have a good and informative update next week(or later) after reasonable delay.
I have a way also because I backed early and ordered black but this non update update isn't good IMHO.
The one thing that is irritating people the most seems to be the lack of communication. They could fix a lot of people issues with just being more open.
I do not understandalldiscussions.Youjust have to waitto find yourPebbleinthe mailboxandthat's all.No doubtit will happen. All thisdiscussion ofthe "whenisit going tohappen"will not change anything, so whydodiscussionsto infinity?
Dersie: so everyone that wants to know when it will happen should just relax? Do nothing? Not have a discussion that exists to talk about everything Pebble? I think the hope here is that somebody (anybody!) notes the questions and maybe, perhaps deigns to respond. I know htere are a good number of people that believe they shoould be focussed on production and that's all well and good but might the abundance of funding they receive have allowed them to hire a communications person? A social media representative? Face it, this is all we got in terms of a place to make our voices heard (don't get me started on the vacuum that is their Twitter feed) so I'm afraid you just have to do your best to undderstand or ignore what you don't want to read.

I don't know anything about lying and am not even willing to go in that direction. I do find his posts on Twitter to be trite and struggle to see the purpose outside of pushing up the demands of a product that they are struggling to produde. Why talk about someone's excitement for a cherry red Pebble when they aren't even willing to post a date for color watches? Sorry, grumbly today when it comes to Pebble...
